Illinois Board of Natural Resource Sustainability (IBNRS)
INRS Board
About the Board
The IBNRS is the primary external advisory body for the Institute of Natural Resource Sustainability (INRS), which was created within the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign on July 1, 2008. The IBNRS is charged with providing input and advice related to the scientific and research agenda, management, and funding of the Institute. Board members transmit their findings to the INRS Executive Director, the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research (OVCR), and the Chancellor of the University. The Chancellor appoints members to the IBNRS on the recommendation of the OVCR. The IBNRS Chair and Vice Chair are the Vice Chancellor for Research and the INRS Executive Director, respectively. The IBNRS meets at least twice a year.
The Institute contains four Divisions: Illinois State Geological Survey, Illinois Natural History Survey, Illinois State Water Survey, and Illinois Sustainable Technology Center
INRS History
Prior to their move to the University as part of the newly formed INRS in July 2008, the Surveys and Center were housed in state government and governed by the Board of Natural Resources and Conservation. Within the University, the INRS Executive Director reports to the Vice Chancellor for Research. The Institute is now governed by the Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois.

The next meeting will be held November 5th and 6th, 2009.
