Traces of diapirs of extruding mud on elongate mudboils on a slope

Location: Kaminak Lake area, Nunavut, Canada; NTS 55L Kaminak Lake; ~62° 30'N, 95°W
Traces of diapirs of extruding mud on elongate mudboils on a slope

These mudboils are "active" in the sense that they have well-defined marks of extrusion of red till on their surfaces. The white, "Y"-shaped feature in the foreground is the surface trace of a dike-like extrusion of red till. Cross sections of similar extrusive, diapiric dikes are shown in images 0055, 0059, 0073, 0091, and 0092. See detailed discussion for image 0240.
