Major icing attached to the front of Fountain Glacier (B26)

Location: Bylot Island, Nunavut, Canada
Major icing attached to the front of Fountain Glacier (B26)

View along the surface of the major icing attached to the front of Fountain Glacier (B26), which forms the background. Note the debris on the icing surface; it has been transported under hydrostatic pressure through a hydraulic link (tunnel) that has formed between the glacier and its icing. I have a video of the fountain that is carrying sediment to the icing’s surface. This deposit and other views of the icing and its relationship to the glacier’s front are shown in images 0079, 0145, 0146, 0153, 0154, 0155, 0156, 0168, 0194, 0195, and 0198.
